Inigo and I met through work and mutual circles in Hong Kong. Like many people here, we had busy careers, long days and a slightly unhealthy relationship with coffee. One cup became two. Two became three. Sometimes four.

We were constantly wired, but somehow still tired.

Then matcha entered our lives.

We loved the steadier energy, better focus and the ritual of making something we actually enjoyed drinking. But when we looked around Hong Kong, we felt matcha was either overly niche and ceremonial, or treated as another social media trend.

We thought there had to be another way.

So we started Matchaka.

We source our matcha from Kagoshima, Japan, working with carefully selected cultivars and first-harvest tea leaves to create matcha that is smooth, vibrant and made to be enjoyed every day.

But Matchaka is about more than what's in the cup.

We want matcha to fit into real life whether you're heading into your first meeting, training at the gym, working late, catching up with friends or simply replacing your fourth coffee.

You don't need to be a matcha expert. You don't need the perfect whisk. You don't need to follow a certain lifestyle.

We started Matchaka with our own money, our own living room and a lot of late nights. Since then, we've taken it from online orders to corporate wellness events, fitness studios, workshops, private events and pop-ups and served matcha to thousands of people along the way.

We're still figuring things out. Still experimenting. Still building.

But one thing hasn't changed:

No gatekeeping. No pretentiousness.
